Google Pixel 6 / Pro has another bug: the screen auto-rotation function does not work

 Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro did not take long after they were launched, but a large number of bugs have been exposed. This series of phones has become Google's most buggy phone so far.

According to reports from Android Police, Google’s Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro software seems to have bugs frequently, and the one that seems to be most affected is the auto-rotation function of the phone’s screen. This problem was not fixed in the December patch, and many users still cannot make their phone screens rotate automatically.

This problem seems to stem from a communication failure between the Pixel 6's physical sensors and the software. Sometimes, the device does not seem to be able to read the data provided by some of the sensors, namely the gyroscope, accelerometer and compass. This was discovered by testing using the sensor test application and found that feedback from the sensor sometimes fails.

The gyroscope and accelerometer are responsible for detecting when the screen is automatically turned over. Because the system cannot read the data provided by these sensors, the device cannot know whether the phone is placed vertically or horizontally.

Pixel 6 and 6 Pro users also complained that when using navigation applications such as Google Maps, their phones often fail to display their directions on the map correctly. The small pointers either rotate in all directions or point in a fixed wrong direction, making it harder for them to figure out where to go.

So far, Google has not responded to the news about these persistent sensor-related issues, and hopes to release corresponding patches as soon as possible to resolve these issues.
